This shell extension enables Windows, and third party applications, to generate thumbnails (reduced-size version image representation of the document) for PDF documents. Making use of file-specific thumbnail images is a functionality present in early Windows versions, but is now used extensively since Windows Vista, that uses them in all views, in dialogs, and for any file type that provides them. Windows has native thumbnail handlers for some file types, and this extension provides the same capability for PDF documents.
