Batch Info Field Edit concern
« on: April 12, 2007, 02:48:00 PM »
After doing a batch info field edit, the new changes do not appear right away when i return back to the ScanGrid. In order to see the changes I would have to move to another directory and return back to the folder again so it will re-scan and re-index.

Is there a less clumbersome way for it to automatically re-scan when returning from the batch tools rather then maneuvering the around the folders? I tried using the Batch Update Document Info Fields option after editing the fields but instead, it does not apply the changes after i made them (when re-scanning the folder, the info fields remain the same).

The batch tools are not linked with the grid contents. After batch tools start we can scan another folder and fill the grid with other contents and the batch tools continue to process the last submitted files without disturb. It's a non standard way to do it, and probably introduce some kind of confusion, but it is useful when we want to batch process a large number of files but continue to work in the grid, doing other operations, without the need to wait the batch completion.
Even so I suppose there is the need to enhance this behavior.

Also note that you do not need to rescan to enter the changes in the database. The batch tools enter the changes also in the database but you don't see them in the grid because the grid is not automatically updated because of what I explained before.

Strange! And in the batch tool you see the OK message for all the files edited?
If possible send me a sample of these files so I can check if it is a problem of incompatibility with the PDF file itself.
