Bookmark Search & Tagging
« on: December 04, 2007, 11:50:00 AM »
Two things are missing in this excellent software:

1. the possibility to search within the PDFs' bookmarks

2. Tagging of PDFs: There should be an option to give several tags to a PDF and then there should be a list of all available tags - Similar to gmail where I can tag an email and in the menu are all possible tags listed. So, when I chose one or more tags all corresponding documents are displayed.

Now in the TODO list for latter investigation. Even so bookmarks text is normally found in the document text content itself, so, the DBSearch scan mode, Indexed contents option, can give some help to find files with the words you are looking for.

2. Tagging of PDFs:
Tags are another name for Keywords so we can easily implement the tagging mechanism with the current available PDFE functionalities. We just need to use a custom metadata field, from the 100 available, for tagging proposes, if the standard keywords field must be leave untouched. Multiple tags can be entered into the same metadata field, using a simple separator, as normally done with keywords.
The DBsearch scan mode is used latter to easily find all the documents tagged with the searched keywod(s).
For the list of available tags we can use the DBSearch favorites repository.
